PASSION FOR CRICKET

As Sri Lankans have a passion for cricket being its most popular sport with international recognition, Sri Lanka Cricket is on course with multifaceted objectives in ensuring overall development of the sport from grass root level to international level. Due to relentless efforts by Sri Lanka Cricket, Sri Lanka Cricket has become one of our super brand names most known all over the world today.

THE TEAM SPIRIT

The greatest moment for Sri Lankan cricket was when they won the 1996 World Cup by defeating Australia a top ranked team in the final. The 1996 Cricket World Cup, also called the Wills World Cup after its official sponsors, was the sixth edition of the tournament organized by the International Cricket Council (ICC).

Sri Lanka Cricket is a major source of national income and has always been in the public eye and of interest. Sri Lanka Cricket therefore makes a pivotal contribution to the nation at large.

PROJECT MOTIVATION & JUSTIFICATION

-You need to be in a good social status and with more influences to get into the SriLanka National Team.

-Most of the cricket players get into the National Team, if they had studied in a reputed school in Srilanka and also through someones influential powers. Only very few poor guys and the guys from rural areas with very sad family backgrounds get into the National team, that also after facing so many consequences.

-Because of this, the well tallented guys in the rural areas and the guys who are studying in small village schools aren’t in a situation to get into the team.

WHY THE SEPARATION

THE PATHWAY FOR THE TALENTED TENGAERS IN THE RURAL AREAS AND SLUMS

-Since Sri Lanka Cricket’s today’s status is not up to the standard, as a great Sri Lanka cricket fan I wanted to do something which would really help our Nation’s cricket team to get into the top level in the best team’s list in the World of Cricket. So I planned to start an Organization called The SRI LANKA CRICKET PATHWAY which could help the Sri Lanka Cricket to boost them up.

-It’s an Organization to prepare a new generation of cricket representatives from poor families and rural areas with knowledge, critical thinking, ethics, integrity, skills and the passion to succeed. This Organization ensures a future where all young people, irrespective of background and ability have the everyday opportunity to play cricket and enjoy physical activities to the benefit of their self-esteem, health, education and future socio-economical potential. Recipients will be supported through reduced fees and can also receive support in their living and schooling costs. There are numerous youngsters who posses immense talent and can enrich the domestic and national cricket spheres, provided they are given proper financial and logistical support.

-And it’s a unique initiative to discover and nurture grassroots talent from all parts of the country. Definitely the Srilanka cricket will benefit tremendously from this initiative, as it can avail of a ready pool of talented young cricketers who can be selected for the national cricket team.  Most of the youngsters will be given their educations in a bid to seek promising careers in cricket.

LOCATION

-Slave Island, the area of Colombo about two kilometres south of the Fort and adjoining Galle Face at its rear was once an island on the Beira Lake. Slave Island consisted of a mud village, a bazaar, an excellent ground, and two “gentlemen’s villas”. Kew road connected Slave Island to the Fort by bridges and causeways. The area is pockmarked with many streets and buildings since development work in the city was carried out during and after the British Colonial era. Wekande is one area within Slave Island bordering the Beira Lake on its south.

-Today, Slave Island is a very busy commercial area with many GOVERNMENT OFFICES, RESTAURANTS, HOSPITALS, CORPORATE OFFICES, CINEMAS, RELIGIOUS PLACES, & RESIDENCIES. The HEADQUARTERS of the Sri Lanka AIR FORCE, Sri Lanka ARMY, and the City Football League are also located in here. Its a much secured area compared to other main cities in Colombo.

The Malays

-During the 17th and 18th centuries, Slave Island was occupied by Javanese and Malay people, who were mostly soldiers who fought and served under the Dutch and British Colonial rulers. The Colombo Malay Cricket Club, formerly located at Riufle Green and now moved to the Jalan Padang at Kew Road, is the oldest cricket club in the whole of Sri Lanka.

TARGET DEMOGRAPHY

Mainly the target demography is the teenagers who are talented in playing cricket and who are from SLUMS and RURAL AREAS in Sri Lanka. And also the Tamils from North and Up countries who aren't in a situation to play cricket and the teenagers who have forgotten the dream to shine in the field of this extra ordinary game. It’s their dream, their Passion, but they don’t have the opportunity to get to that point and fulfill their dreams.

And also i’m focusing on to the Tamils, since they’re are not treated equally in this peaceful country and give them a chance to do their best and prove themselves. That Is the main reason to focusing on to them.
